The Pennsylvania Ballet Academy presents Coppelia Act III & Divertissement

Pennsylvania Ballet Academy’s 2024 Summer Performance is Coppélia, Act III. Considered among the greatest comic ballets of the 19th Century, Coppélia remains one of ballet’s best-loved classical works. The Academy once again teams with Lancaster Symphony Orchestra, and patrons of all ages are sure to relish this unique, excerpted performance behind a live orchestra. The afternoon also features Divertissement, with choreography from some of ballet’s most cherished classics, as interpreted by Academy Artistic Director Vanessa Zahorian and Creative Director Davit Karapetyan.
York County Junior Honors Choir

The York County Honors Choirs are pleased to offer this joint afternoon performance by their Junior Honors Choir and the Elementary Choir.
The Junior Honors Choir, under the direction of Rachel Morgan Im, is comprised of local 7th-9th grade singers. Michal Buchanan will conduct the Elementary Choir, which includes local 5th and 6th grade students, in their inaugural performance. Roth Preap will be the accompanist for both groups.
Please join us to celebrate these young singers as they begin their vocal journey with our organization.

2024 President’s Concert

The concert will feature Centre Dimensions, the Penn State Glee Club, and the Percussion Ensemble. This annual event is sponsored jointly by The Office of the President, the Penn State Alumni Association, and the School of Music. Click HERE to register for the pre-show reception.
Centre Dimensions
Centre Dimensions, the premier seventeen-piece jazz ensemble at Penn State, performs frequently on University Park campus and tours throughout Pennsylvania and the Eastern United States. Centre Dimensions performs and works with several internationally known artists each year. Previous guests have included Vardan Ovsepian, Phil Woods, Cyrus Chestnut, Bob Mintzer, Wycliffe Gordon, George Rabbai, Dennis Diblasio, Benny Golson, Jon Faddis and Slide Hampton. They perform a challenging repertoire of modern and classic jazz. Centre Dimensions is directed by Dr. Joshua Davis.
Penn State Glee Club
The Penn State Glee Club is Penn State’s oldest student organization. Since its first spring tour in March of 1889, the Glee Club has performed throughout the United States and abroad, with recent tours to Wales, Trinidad and Tobago, France, New Zealand, and Iceland. In recent years, the Glee Club has performed at Heinz Hall (Pittsburgh), as well as the Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center (New York). In addition, the choir has presented concerts at conventions of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (2007, 2013), Intercollegiate Men’s Choruses, Inc. (2008, 2014), the National Association for Music Education (MENC, 2009, 2019), and the American Choral Directors Association (2010, 2014). Since 2005, the Glee Club has performed major choral works including Symphony No.2 in C Minor (“Resurrection”)” by Gustav Mahler, Ein deutsches Requiem by Johannes Brahms, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 in D Minor (“Choral”), the Verdi Requiem, the Poulenc Gloria, and Mendelssohn’s Elijah. Conducted by Christopher Kiver, the Glee Club’s members hail from all colleges on Penn State’s University Park campus. Enrollment by audition.
Percussion Ensemble
Percussion Ensemble performs a variety of music written for four to twelve players, including contemporary music written for percussion as well as arrangements. Instrumentation includes all types of percussion, from familiar drums and cymbals to exotic items from around the world. Through participation, students learn the art of ensemble performing and augment their understanding of the role of percussion within the discipline of music. They also learn the skills of organization and cooperation through rehearsal and performance. The ensembles have appeared frequently at meetings of the Music Educators National Conference and the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association. Enrollment is by audition. The group is directed by Dr. Lee Hinkle.

United States Air Force Heritage of America Band: Rhythm in Blue

The United States Air Force Heritage of America Band is proud to present Rhythm in Blue, the unit’s dynamic jazz ensemble. This stellar group presents exciting and uplifting music to inspire patriotism and tell the Air Force story. Made up of outstanding Air Force enlisted professional musicians, Rhythm in Blue takes great pride in preserving America’s uniquely original art form, recruiting a new generation of listeners, and representing all Airmen. From formal concerts in grand auditoriums to casual shows in the park, Rhythm in Blue is in constant demand traveling throughout the Eastern United States, performing for diverse audiences from Maine to South Carolina.

As the show progresses, each scene creates a new “room” inside “Club iLuminate” where an exhilarating blend of music, dance, illusion, technology and comedy comes to life for an experience that’s sure to be the most fun you’ll ever have in the dark.
Founded by dancer and software engineer Miral Kotb, iLuminate boasts customized LED suits with wireless lighting programs that create extraordinary lighting effects that move along with each of the phenomenally choreographed dance moves. The original blend of dance and technology previously landed iLuminate in a finalist spot on America’s Got Talent and now all of Las Vegas can see the show in action. Distinguished Young Women of York County Scholarship Program

Distinguished Young Women is a nationwide scholarship program that has successfully opened the door of opportunity for young women since its beginning in 1958. It is the oldest and largest scholarship program for high school girls in the United States.
The program recognizes and rewards outstanding students for their accomplishments with scholarship dollars. This scholarship program includes the following five areas of competition:
Academic Achievement, Interview, Talent, Fitness and Self Expression.
This program places an emphasis on excellence and rewards young women for their academic achievements. Participants are leaders in their school and community, as well as role models for all youth. In addition to the scholarships awarded, the program serves as a preparation and learning experience for college and careers.

York County High School Musical Theatre Showcase

This celebration of musical theater in York County High Schools is presented annually to recognize the talent, work and accomplishments evident in our community’s high school musical productions. Over 500 students will perform in this spectacular presentation!
A total of over $30,000 in scholarships will be awarded to students at the event. The Cultural Alliance is the sponsor of the Directors' Scholarships. In addition, a special award, the Rozella Olp Anstine Scholarship, will be presented by Atty. William B. Anstine, Jr. Additional sponsors include John Giambalvo and the Jack Giambalvo Family of Dealerships, The Brougher Foundation, Coni Wolf, Win Bradley and Family, as well as David and Joan Stauffer.
Representatives from each high school will perform in a musical finale to celebrate the talent of York County students.
This event is a highly anticipated afternoon of theater magic! Showcasing the hard work of these students, directors and production teams brings pride to York County. Bryan Tate will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the event.

The Lancers Drum and Bugle Corps, from Hanover, Pennsylvania, is hosting their 11th Annual Profiles In Music ~ “A Drum and Bugle Corps Showcase.” The show will consist of the finest Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps from the East Coast, along with some other exciting music groups, each performing a twenty-minute concert. You won’t want to miss this exciting show of drum and bugle corps music. This event has sold out each of its previous ten performances, so purchase your tickets early to ensure your seats!
